Ingredients are often purchased in one unit (like pounds) but used in another (like cups). To ensure accurate recipe costing, reciProfity needs to understand how those units relate. This is where conversions come in. Conversions help the system calculate the correct cost based on how the ingredient is actually used in a recipe.
To reflect accurate costs in a recipe, the product must be properly configured. This includes packaging, pack size, and purchase unit. If the unit used in the recipe differs from the purchase unit, a conversion is required. In many cases, this may be a weight-to-volume conversion. The Conversion section of the product tells reciProfity how many usage units (e.g., cups) are in one purchase unit (e.g., pound).
While the Book of Yields provides preset standardized conversions, there may be times when you need to create a manual conversion.
Once the conversion is set, reciProfity will automatically apply it when calculating recipe costs.
