A Prep Build is a two-way transaction. You enter the quantity of prep recipe(s) you want to make, and reciProfity automatically adjusts inventory:
- Adds to the on-hand quantity of the prep recipe
- Depletes the inventory used to make the prep recipe(s)
Once built, the prep recipe can be sold, transferred, counted, and tracked like any inventory item.
Prep Builds appear in the Actual Usage Report (build amounts act like purchases), while the ingredients used appear in the Ideal Usage Report (similar to inventory used when selling recipes).
This allows you to run perpetual inventory on prep recipes.
- Assign your prep recipe to a location for counting
- Use Waste Tracking to report any waste
- The Actual Usage Report will show usage for each prep recipe
- The Ideal Usage Report will show usage for ingredients in the prep recipe
- The Variance Report will show any variance for either ingredients or prep recipes
- The Ideal Usage view also shows the items used
Using the Prep List
A Prep List is a cart that lets you add multiple prep recipes and hold them until you're ready to perform a Prep Build.
Performing a Prep Build Without a Prep List
- From the sideboard menu, click the Prep Build link.
- Start a new Prep Build.
- Select your prep recipes and enter the quantity prepared.
⚠️Note: If Explode Prep Recipes is ON, nested prep recipes will break down into their individual ingredients when you save the build. If OFF, prep recipes remain intact.
- After saving, the Prep Build will appear on the Prep Builds page.
- Click Tools to access the Prep Build Journal.
- The Actual Usage Report will include your Prep Builds for your review.
Explode Prep Recipes Setting
When enabled, this setting breaks down prep recipes into individual ingredients across requisitions, prep builds, and sales mix. For Prep Builds, this ensures accurate on-hand tracking at the ingredient level.
To enable or disable this setting: Gear > Setup > Options > Recipes
