Pack Size tells reciProfity how much product you’re buying—and it’s what the system uses to calculate ingredient costs in your recipes. You can enter this information manually, but if the packaging is tricky or unfamiliar, templates can help. They prefill the Purchasing and Pack Size fields based on common formats. You can use the suggestion as-is or adjust it to match your product exactly.
How To Use a Pack Size Template
- In the Packaging section of a new product, click the Template field.
- Use the dropdown to scroll through the list.
Or you can type an ingredient name to search. - Select the ingredient or packaging that’s closest to what you use.
- reciProfity fills in the packaging fields for you.
If something doesn’t match—like the number of bags or the unit size—you can change it. For example, if the template says 1 bag but you receive 4, just update the number.

Some templates use weight-based units like pounds (lb) and ounces (oz), while others use count-based units like each (ea) and dozen (doz). The unit type depends on the product—bulk ingredients like flour and cheese are measured by weight, while items like condiment packets, eggs, and fruit are counted individually or by the dozen.
