Why these features are important
- Super Groups and Groups can be used to sort and filter reports.
- Groups can be classified as non-nutritional, such as packaging; thus, the items within this category will not appear as ingredients on the label.
- Consider Super Groups to be similar to your General Ledger (GL) categories for cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Super Groups utilize the same name or category used in your accounting software. It is the highest level of ingredient association.
How to use it
1) Click the Gear icon located in the upper right corner.
Click Setup
Click Super Groups.
2) Click on the name of the Super Group and enter the GL code from the accounting software.
Groups are a subset of Super Groups.
A single Super Group can connect to multiple Groups. For example, the beverage Super Group shown in the image below is linked to four Groups. There is no limit to the number of Groups that can be linked to a Super Group.
Certain Groups contain items that have no nutritional value, such as packaging materials. These items mustn't appear on the nutritional label as ingredients or be included as nutrition exceptions in recipes. To avoid this, click on the Group’s name to enter edit mode and uncheck the “Nutritional Item” checkbox for that Group. This action will exclude the Group's items from being classified as nutritional items.
