Super Groups and Groups
Super Groups and Groups are essential tools for sorting and filtering reports in reciProfity. They help organize ingredients and items based on their characteristics and usage.
- Super Groups: Think of Super Groups as similar to your General Ledger (GL) categories for cost of goods sold (COGS). They utilize the same name or category used in your accounting software and represent the highest level of ingredient association.
- Groups: Groups are subsets of Super Groups and can be classified as non-nutritional, such as packaging. Items within these non-nutritional categories will not appear as ingredients on the label.
Using Super Groups and Groups
HOW TO: Set Up Super Groups
- Select the Gear icon located in the upper right corner.
- Select Setup.
- Select Super Groups.
- Select the name of the Super Group and enter the GL code from your accounting software.
Managing Groups
Groups are subsets of Super Groups. A single Super Group can connect to multiple Groups. For example, the beverage Super Group can be linked to several Groups, such as soda, juice, and coffee. There is no limit to the number of Groups that can be linked to a Super Group.
Excluding Non-Nutritional Items
Certain Groups contain items that have no nutritional value, such as packaging materials. These items should not appear on the nutritional label as ingredients or be included as nutrition exceptions in recipes. To exclude these items:
- Edit Group: Click on the Group's name to enter edit mode.
- Uncheck Nutritional Item: Uncheck the "Nutritional Item" checkbox for that Group. This action will exclude the Group's items from being classified as nutritional items.
