Select Ingredients from the left-hand menu bar. Each ingredient in each of your recipes has its own entry. Here you tell reciProfity how much each ingredient costs and how you use it.
Even if you plan on importing your ingredients directly from your suppliers' order guides, we strongly recommend following these steps to manually enter at least a few ingredients so that you learn how reciProfity calculates your food cost. See Order Guides for more info [link to IMPORTING ORDER GUIDES].
The 3 Main Sections of the Ingredient Entry Panel
Name: this is the general name of the item (like Ketchup, Coca-Cola, Pork Butt).
Equivalents: this is where you tell reciProfity how you USE the item. It supports weight-to-volume conversions and shrinkage/yield calculations.
Products: products are for when you purchase the same ingredient in different packagings or from different vendors (different size bottles of ketchup or different sized bottles of Coke).
